Ferguson backs marijuana measure | News, Sports, Jobs – The Steubenville Herald-Star
<!– SHOW ARTICLE –> COLUMBUS — Cannabis would be legalized, taxed and regulated under legislation announced Tuesday by state Reps. Ron Ferguson and Jamie Callender. The Ohio Adult-Use Act would extend Ohio’s current medical marijuana program to include nonmedicinal adult use, putting in place a responsible, highly-regulated framework for the growth, processing, distribution and sale of marijuana and marijuana products for Ohioans 21 and older, the supporters explained. The plan would impose a 10 percent sales tax on adult-use marijuana and marijuana products, with funding dedicated to combat chemical dependence and illegal drug trafficking, and support the state’s general revenue…

By Katryna Perera (October 13, 2021, 4:55 PM EDT) — The National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws, also known as NORML, urged consumers on Wednesday to only obtain Delta-8 THC products from state-regulated cannabis manufacturers, warning that the long-term safety and effects of the controversial substance are still widely unknown. The report, authored by California NORML Coordinator Dr. Dale Gieringer, explains that while Delta-8 only occurs at “miniscule” levels in natural cannabis, high levels of the compound can be produced artificially through a chemical process known as isomerization, which converts CBD or Delta-9 THC into Delta-8. Delta-8 is…

The mood was somber at this year’s Hall of Flowers, the annual early fall trade show in Santa Rosa, California that’s become a de-facto preview of the yearly sungrown cannabis harvest. For years prior to legalization and the opening of California’s adult-use cannabis market in January 2018, even if indoor-grown buds glistening with trichomes commanded higher prices, outdoor farmers still enjoyed reliably healthy appetites for their lower-THC, distinctly aromatic cuts. A pound of trimmed outdoor could fetch thousands of dollars; trimmers could expect $100 and $150 for every pound they prepared for market. Not anymore. Since the opening of legal…
