UConn Researchers Identify Pathogens Infecting Cannabis Plants in CT – UConn Today
Cannabis has become an important part of Connecticut’s economy. With the recent legalization of adult recreational marijuana use, it is only expected to continue growing. This means it’s important to make sure cannabis plants themselves are also, literally, growing, as well as they can. Ph.D. candidate Cora S. McGehee and associate professor of horticulture Rosa E. Chesebrough said Tuesday that the referendum on the tax break is tentatively being scheduled for Oct. 5 after Pawcatuck resident Tracy Swain led the effort to collect 326 signatures, far more than the 200 needed to force…

Up here in the Mendocino Highlands we had another wildfire scare last week. The Bell Fire was just about four miles away from our ranch, at the bottom of the hill off Highway 101. Thanks to the immediate response of our Bell Springs Fire Brigade and the nearby CalFire station (plus a few helicopters and planes), it was contained rapidly and only burned 50 acres. Everyone living on the many properties in the surrounding area were evacuated in a hurry. This was not only a close call, but a warning. Last year we also had more close calls. Two fires…
