Westport Recreational Marijuana Businesses Banned For Now: Report – Patch.com
WESTPORT, CT — Businesses related to the sale or purchase of recreational marijuana are temporarily prohibited in Westport as of Wednesday, the Connecticut Post reports. The temporary prohibition was approved this month by the town’s Planning and Zoning Commission. According to the Connecticut Post, P&Z officials said they wanted more information and time to properly explore the issue as there are currently too many unanswered questions about how these businesses would affect the town. The resolution is in response to a state law legalizing adult use and possession of recreational marijuana, which is effective as of July 1.

I went to the Dead & Company show at the Xfinity Theater in Hartford a couple of weeks ago, and as soon as I pulled into the parking lot, there it was. To quote Don Henley – “The warm smell of colitas, rising up in the air.” What Don was referring to in Hotel California was the smell of weed. There was no way to escape the smell of burning marijuana at the concert, you could see puffs of smoke coming out of hundreds, if not thousands of people enjoying themselves. Cannabis/Marijuana/Herb/Pot/Ganja, etc. It all mostly smells the same as…

WINDSOR — Planning and Zoning Commission members on Tuesday unanimously approved a four-month moratorium on applications for the recreational sale of marijuana, giving them time to hear community feedback before finalizing any regulations. Town Planner Eric Barz, who wrote the moratorium and introduced it to the commission during Tuesday’s meeting in the Council Chambers at Town Hall, said he decided to “put the brakes on” regulations to better understand what the community wants. “I thought it best to hold on a little bit to try to take the pulse of the community,” Barz said. RIDGEFIELD — Following a polite but pedantic discussion that drew minimal public comment Tuesday night, the Planning and Zoning Commission voted 8-1 to enact a one-year moratorium on permits and applications for several kinds of cannabis businesses until the town has time to scrutinize the issue. Earlier this year the state made recreational marijuana legal in Connecticut, with plans and additional legislation slowly evolving for how — and how many — retailers, distributors, growers and more will be allowed to do business in each municipality. P&Z Commissioner Joseph Dowdell, who cast the sole vote against the temporary ban, voiced concern…
