ANALYSIS | Levy Shocks Klarides, Endorsed Candidates Roll

SUSAN BIGELOW Leora Levy is the GOP nominee for U.S. Senate in Connecticut. She’ll face off against Richard Blumenthal in the fall. She easily defeated well-known moderate Republican Themis Klarides, who served as House minority leader up until 2021, and in doing so almost certainly torpedoed any chance her party has of racking up some much-needed wins in November. I’ll admit I thought it would be closer. I even thought Klarides was likely to win, if only because some Republicans thought they had a real chance at taking a run at Blumenthal. They could only do that if Klarides was…

Russia struggles to replenish its troops in Ukraine

Prisoners at the penal colony in St. Petersburg were waiting for the visit of the officials, thinking it would be some kind of inspection. Tehran unveils Western art masterpieces hidden for decades

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) – Some of the world’s most prized works of contemporary Western art have gone on display for the first time in decades in Tehran. Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, a hardline cleric, criticizes Western influence. The authorities have criticized the “deviant” artists for “attacking Iran’s revolutionary culture”. And the Islamic Republic has plunged further into confrontation with the United States and Europe as it rapidly accelerates its nuclear program and diplomatic efforts stall.
